We’re a friendly, family run accountancy practice and training centre, based on the High Street in Harborne, Birmingham. We’re Sage 50 specialists and use Office 365 to manage our paperless, cloud-based systems. Our training programmes are delivered 1-1 remotely via Teamviewer, online via Microsoft Teams and face to face in our training centre. We also travel to clients premises and deliver training at any location around the UK.
We began trading in 1997 as a home-based bookkeeping bureau. We have grown steadily and cautiously since incorporating in 2007 and now have 6 employees working from our offices and remotely from home. We have fully embraced cloud technology and are able to share the efficiency that it offers with our clients.
We welcome local and national clients and students and we regularly work collaboratively with fellow accountants and training providers as part of our network of expertise.
Acc-Unique’s journey so far:
After 15 years working as a PA and departmental secretary and completing IT, RSA word processing and Pitman bookkeeping qualifications I set up FW Bookkeeping & Secretarial Services. As a sole trader I worked with small businesses providing secretarial and bookkeeping support. Efficient systems and practices were developed during these early years, going on to form the core practices that allow Acc-Unique to provide our services today.
10 years on I expanded my services to include Sage Accounts training for local and national clients who required extra support to handle their finances. I became a qualified teacher with QTLS status after achieving PTLLS, A1 Assessors Award and CertEd qualifications at Wolverhampton University. At the same time I worked as an AAT Accounts and Business lecturer and assessed accounts apprentices in the workplace. My role as a personal tutor for BTEC business students enabled me to enhance my 1- 1 training skills and developed my passion for helping young people with their careers.
FW Bookkeeping & Secretarial Services changed to a limited company and became Acc-Unique Solutions Ltd. I achieved my full AAT qualification and registered as a Licensed Accountant in Practice with AAT.
Another 10 years and Acc-Unique Solutions moved to Birmingham offices, recruiting 3 full time members of staff to allow us to build upon our well-founded principles and provide our services to a wider array of clients. The course calendar expanded and we began to offer work experience to apprentices and students.
Our plans, 2021 onwards …
During the COVID-19 pandemic Acc-Unique Solutions has been undergoing a transformation. We have refurbished our new offices with the support of Birmingham City Council and the Business Growth Programme. We have completed the ERDF Innovation Vouchers Programme with Aston Business School and Birmingham City University and carried out extensive work on our business model and strategy plan. We are really looking forward to working with businesses, colleges and universities in our local community and from further afield.
One of Acc-Unique’s main objectives is to provide real opportunities for talented young people who want to progress into a career in the Accountancy & Finance sector. We offer study support and work placement opportunities that specifically meet qualification criteria. We help our learners to gain their full qualifications with enriched experiences rather than just learning theory and passing exams.
We will be working more with employers who are keen to offer work opportunities to young and more mature people who need to re-train. We tailor-train candidates on the employer’s behalf to ensure a smooth transition into the workplace.
We will be contacting organisations around the country to offer our AAT Essentials Finance for non-financial managers and Budgeting workshops to staff who are responsible for performance. The courses build confidence for non-financial managers, HR staff and business owners who need to understand the core principles of finance. Completing the course provides an understanding of accounting jargon, Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reports, how to spot problems and how to prepare and manage budgets effectively to ensure success. Attendees are able to contribute more in meetings with colleagues, board members and accountants and are more involved in decision making.
Our Sage courses will be offered online! For many years we have delivered classroom based and onsite basic, intermediate and advanced Sage accounts and payroll courses. We now have the resources to provide the same hands-on training experience via remote learning. Of course, learners who prefer to learn face to face are welcome to attend a course at our training centre in Birmingham or we can deliver on site at any location in the UK.
