I’m Fiona Wilson, Director and owner of Acc-Unique Solutions Ltd.

Our company is a friendly, family run management accountancy practice which operates from within the Wentworth & Rose building in Albany Road, Harborne.  Our training courses are also delivered from our previous location at Trigate Business Centre, Hagley Road West, Birmingham.

We have grown steadily since 1997 and since our move to Harborne in 2018 we have put many exciting development plans in place for the future.  We welcome new clients to join our business portfolio and look forward to working with you, both locally and nationally.

Acc-Unique’s journey so far:

1996 

After 15 years working as a PA and departmental secretary and completing a 3 year IT course I set up FW Bookkeeping & Secretarial Services.  As a sole trader I worked with small businesses in the local area to provide secretarial and bookkeeping support.  Alongside I achieved RSA Stages 1-3 Word Processing and Pitman levels 1 & 2 Bookkeeping qualifications.  Efficient systems and practices were developed during these early years, going on to form the core practices that allow Acc-Unique to provide our services today.

2006                                     

10 years on I expanded my services to include Sage Accounts training for clients around the UK and locally who required extra support to handle their finances.  I became a qualified teacher with QTLS status after achieving PTLLS, A1 Assessors Award and CertEd qualifications at Wolverhampton University.  At the same time I worked as an AAT Accounts and Business lecturer, growing in confidence whilst teaching larger groups of students.  Assessing apprentices in the workplace and working as a personal tutor for BTEC business students enabled me to enhance 1 on 1 coaching skills.

FW Bookkeeping & Secretarial Services changed to a limited company and became Acc-Unique Solutions Ltd.  I achieved my full AAT qualification and registered as a Licensed Accountant in Practice with AAT.

2016

Another 10 years and Acc-Unique Solutions moved to Birmingham offices, recruiting 3 full time members of staff to allow us to build upon our well-founded principles and provide our services to a wider array of clients.  The course calendar was expanded and our Albany Road Apprenticeship  programme began.

One of Acc-Unique’s main objectives is to provide real opportunities for talented young people who want to progress into a career in the Accountancy & Finance sector.  Albany Road apprentices are offered qualifications in the UK’s leading accounting qualifications and supported every step of the way with study and personal well-being support to ensure their time with us is both successful and enjoyable.  The development of our apprentices has proved complimentary to the services we provide, with specific training implemented to suit our clients and more availability for on-site accountancy and bookkeeping support.

Other Developments, 2019 onwards …

Our aim is to enrol new apprentices onto the Albany Road Apprenticeship Programme each year to ensure a continuous progression at all stages of student development and understanding.  At the end of the programme they are offered full support in finding the best role for them, helping to provide UK industry with highly qualified, confident and developed accountants.  Alternatively, there are opportunities to stay on with Acc-unique and help take us further.
